DIEGO RIVERA WAS BORN IN MEXICO AND LOVED TO DRAW FROM AN EARLY AGE.
AS A YOUNG MAN, HE WENT TO SPAIN AND FRANCE. HE LEARNED CLASSICAL PAINTING AS WELL AS NEW METHODS.
WHEN HE RETURNED TO MEXICO, DIEGO TRAVELED THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. HE WANTED TO BE INSPIRED BY ITS PEOPLE AND HISTORY.
ON THE WALLS OF AN IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT BUILDING, DIEGO PAINTED THE STRUGGLE OF THE MEXICAN PEOPLE TO BREAK FREE OF THE SPANISH KING.
DIEGO PAINTED HIS COUNTRY’S DANCES AND TRADITIONS. HE WANTED TO CELEBRATE THE THINGS THAT WERE SPECIAL TO MEXICO.
IF DIEGO WERE ALIVE TODAY, WHAT WOULD HE PAINT? WOULD HE PAINT THE WAY WE DRESS AND LIVE? WOULD HE PAINT STUDENTS AT THEIR DESKS?
WE’LL FIND OUT MORE WHEN WE RETURN…
